What is Fono?
It’s a national camp of Girls’ Brigade. Fono is short for Fonomarae. Fonomare is the name given originally to Pacific Fellowship gatherings of Pioneers and younger leaders. It is a combination of FONO—a Samoan word meaning “getting together” and MARAE—a Maori word for “meeting place”. Today, the term Fonomarae is used for gatherings of Pioneers and younger Leaders internationally and nationally.
